1999 5.4 engine knock

1999 5.4 engine knock

It appears there is an issue with the engine in my 1999 F-150 5.4 Lt engine. The truck has about 134k miles, well maintained. However my son used the truck and did not manage engine oil, years ago. The engine has a knock on start up on the upper right side of the engine. The knock, gets a little less noticeable, however it is still there. I am not a car guy, or shall I say limited. I have been thinking that a long block replacement maybe a good direction.
