well I bought this truck about a month ago everything was going great untill yesterday. I got in it and started it up and it stated making this ticking sound. The man that I bought it from said that it just had a engine rebuild done to it and showed me the paper work. Could I need to maybe try useing a havier oil or something like that. The truck has 120,875 miles on it and it still runs stong it just now has that sound also.. Any help would be great.

 

The most commonly mentioned engine problem involving ticking has to do with valves and lifters. I'm no genius though so don't quote me. But get it checked out because my friend's Toyota Corolla had a ticking sound in it and the day before my dad went to go take a look at it the engine blew.

 

Or bad exhaust leak by headers, etc..

 

How do I check for that
