sporatic missing under load
ed2002F150, I'm gonna say your problem is gonna come back and you will have to replace a COP to fix it.
Maybe the temperature has changed in your area to a colder condition and that's why now its running good.

Torkum, cool name, you may be right we'll see and I'll make sure I post an update later on if something changes.
The air temperature never seemed to have much affect on the missing problem and it's been very warm here in North Georgia for the last week. It did seem to be worse in rainy weather but it's been raining here also.
This is for sure though, the missing was happening consistently every day and it's is completely gone!!! The only thing I did was add the seafoam to the engine oil for a short period of time.....
I can't explain what it did but it's a totally different truck now and it's absolutely related to the seafoam. It has not missed one time since.
I hope someone enlightens me at some point so I can understand what effect it had but my guess is still that it cleaned something in the vacuum system.

I have a '99 4.2l. I've had that same problem off and on for a long time. It started at about 36k miles. It actually turned into a skip & lit up the engine light. I took it to a mechanic I know & he told me to change plugs before wasting money on a mech. I did. It went away, light went out. About 15k miles later, it came back. I didn't wait until the light came on this time. Changed plugs, wires, air cleaner & it went away. Ever since, I have just changed plugs when I noticed it. One or two of the plugs would look charred like it was a lean fuel mixture. I always thought I could probably tune the computer to run richer with one of those power tuners, but plugs were cheaper.
My truck starting missing recently. I had it checked but they found no codes. The check engine light has not came on.
The skipping is primarily when the engine load is increasing. For example, running highway speeds on the interstate and climbing a slight incline. As the truck starts slowing down it will start missing. The mising also seems to get worse after the engine has warmed up.
Not having any codes is what has me confused.
Any suggestions?
thanks

I had the same problem for the past several weeks, also had no codes. I changed all 8 COP's, problem is solved. My truck is a 2002, 4.6 with 93,000 miles on it, I figured the COP's were ready to be replaced anyways. I bought the COP's on E-bay for about $80 shipped to my door.
