Default Ported Pistons?

So I have heard of this concept recently. I am very curious about the facts behind this. Does anyone know of a resource that has done actual tests and research on this? I am a mechanical engineer student and was thinking about researching this topic (dyno, calculations, the whole nine yards.) So are there any experienced engine builders out there that can give me some info. I know some might not want to disclose this info for it may be a trick up their sleeve, but I dont plan on publishing this in a book or anything just a report for myself and my prof (has to be graded and ligit of course.) Plus I have always wanted to learn to build an engine anyways (thats where the engineering comes from) So any insight to this topic would be helpful and interesting. Thanks.

Default Good show, Mate:

....wonderful! A student with a healthy curiosity.

I can't help you much with your primary subject, but I can give you a site that may be of great interest to you:

Good luck and keep away from the caffeine pills.
