I bought a Hypertech Max Energy back in april for my truck it's an 04 5.4. I decided to purchase an Edge back in October and every since then i've been trying to find someone locally that might want to buy the hypertech. Well yesterday one of my friend's came by and wanted to buy it but the stupid thing wouldn't work on his 04 4.6. The programmer kept saying CAL not found. Can anyone tell me what that mean's? It also told me to update the programmer via my computer which I did but it also said the same thing. I called Hypertech but they're closed till January the 5th. Can anyone tell me why the programmer won't work on his truck? I thought it's suppose to work on 5.4 and 4.6 ford's. Thanks!

 

It should work but if you still have any of the programs loaded on your truck it will not work until you use it to reset your program back to stock. It locks it to your specific vin. It keeps people from using it on more than one truck at a time.

 

Thanks for the reply. I know the programmer has been returned back to stock since i'm currently running an Edge programmer on my truck. Also I unprogrammed the edge and the Hypertech would work fine on my truck but not his. Hopefully hypertech can fix this when they get back to work.

 

Ive been trying to compare P/N for the 5.4 and 4.6 on hypertechs website but the site hasnt been working lately. I dont see any reason why it doesnt work. What is the part number on the programmer you have?

 

i dont know if this is what your supposed to do, but you could try to reprogram the hypertech, on the computer, with his VIN number. His truck is going to be different than yours.
You may need to go through the updates, and then wait for an email from hypertech when you take the CD out of your computer, and hypertech should be able to create an update for the programmer
