Default Engine swap

Hey, i have a 2001 f150 and i was wondering if it was possible to swap a 4.2L v6 for a diesel engine? my truck is also 2wd, if that makes a difference. If there needs to be tranny swap then i would like to know that and what kind would be necessary, please

Not to make you mad or anything but the 1/2 frame won't hold the weight of diesel engine

You'd be biting off way more than it's worth. The front suspension would have to be beefed up tremendously as well as restructuring the frame just to support the weight. Yes, the transmission would need to be replaced as well as the rear differential, fuel system and computer. You'd be better off just putting your body on a 3/4 ton frame that already had a diesel engine.

For strength and reliability just put a 4.9 in it.

I want to put a more powerful engine in my '73 V6. There's a 302 in it now, nothing electrical. Any suggestions?
