just bought a 98 f150 4x4 and it has this ticking noise that goes along with the acceleration. its not the oil pump im thinking exhaust leak and it smells a little like gas. any suggestions. oil level is fine does not over heat.

 

Agreed, other threads about exhaust leaks. Some are at the header joint and some at the engine pipe.
