Default Egr

My check engine light came on and it was my EGR. Now someone told me that you could take it off and clean it. Is that true.

Had the same problem with my 97 with the check engine light going on and off. The scanner reading was the egr system which ended up being a clogged egr port on the throttle body...............................bob106

The EGR ports are so dam*ed big I don't see how they could ever clog, but some do I guess.

My EGR on the elbow that holds the throttle body was clogged shut. I shoved a screwdriver through it to break it free. didn't reuse it though I'm going 5.4
