Ecoboost turbo V6, what do you think?
If Ford was to include their turbo V6 ecoboost as an engine choice for the F150, would you consider it? It makes 355 hp or 365 hp in the taurus SHO, that romps all over the current 5.4 in mileage and power. The question is, would you trust a turbo 6 for the power delivery a truck needs for towing and hauling?
Ford is considering it for the 2010 F150 by the way.

I Voted For Bill and Opus
According to press reports the Eco V6 in going into a new Lincoln car that is designed to go after the Lexus. The engine talked about for the F150 is what is referred to inside the company as the Coyote 5.0L. I is supposed to replace the 4.6L engine in both the F series ford and the Mustang. It will be rated at 400 hp and is supposed to get better gas mileage the the present 5.4L V8.

Just wanted to cite my source for the V6: http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/18/f...-for-ecoboost/
Brett Hinds, Ford's advanced engine design manager, said the 3.5L V6 Ecoboost slated for F-150 duty in 2010 would produce "significantly more" than 340 hp and 340 lb-ft, which easily bests the 300 ponies delivered by the truck's current top shelf 5.4L V8.

At the last parts regional parts and service training we asked which ecoboost engine was slated for the F-150 and it is supposidly a 4.6...but it is a Coyote engine family.

I'm sure plans are ever changing in the current climate of government mismanagement and regulation, but last summer, the service director for our Ford stores was in Detroit and seen the F150 with the ecoboost V6. It was in a 4WD model and they told him that mileage was in excess of 20 mpg in combined driving.
While I would expect something in line of a 5.0L to be brought out, especially if the engine has that kind of power and efficiency. It would beat everyone else in those categories which is a big plus with gas prices climbing again. However, I would still expect to see a V6 ecoboost made available in lesser 2WD models since it could offer more power and efficiency to those who don't need a fully capable truck for hauling/towing.
Either way, it will be interesting to see the engines that show up in the next couple years. I think we may be pleasantly surprised.

they were talking about the v6 ecoboost, With the modern turbos theres hardly any lag anymore and you can be hitting full boost in the lower rpm ranges making it fine for towing. Atleast hold with the 5.4 while getting better millage in return. If your a big tow guy anyways you would want the diesel.
