Default Checking codes using guage cluster on a 2012?

So, is this still a thing? On the early 2000 Mustangs you could hold down the odometer reset and turn the car on and it would give you a read out of codes. I just had the check engine light turn on, reset it by disconnecting the battery and came back on a day later. Can I see what code it is using the factory diagnostics in the guage cluster? I have the basic XLT guages though like the one pictured here.

I think its called engineering mode. Basically you hold down the reset button and turn the key from off to run. Whole bunch of info and readouts in there including digital speedo and engine temp in degrees (unfortunately mine is in Celsius since it's, Canadian lol) including diagnostic trouble codes if you have any. I couldn't find it online on what these codes meant though. So I just got a code reader and found it was a cylinder 6 misfire. Replaced the ignition coil and it cleared, I'm doing spark plugs this weekend though.

The DTC it read on the instrument panel was DTC $406013.
