Default Another Engine Swap Question

So i have my chance to get my hands on a 2000 F150 4x4. Original engine is a 5.4V8 - owner tells me the motor is gone, but has an almost new trans. Body looks good, interior as well. Priced right at $1500.

I happen to have sitting in my garage, a 2004 (new bodystyle) 4.6 with just over 45K on it that I removed when I rolled my truck. Also have the trans, computer and tons of other stuff I have before I took the mangled mess to the metal recyclers.

Anyway.... Does this swap sound do-able? Would the computers and everything run my 4.6 or would i need to do that as well. (I'm assuming I may need to switch out a sensor or two).

I already figure on having to swap the throttle body over (mine has throttle by wire) or find a used one from a similar year 4.6. Any other concerns?

Ideas..

Thanks

And please, I know everyone is going to say - why a 4.6 in a 5.4 truck - rebuild the 5.4. Its because I'm poor and I HAVE to be able to do this for less than $500. Many thanks!

Well, It's been done but definitely not for $500.

A few posts down there's a few links to a guy who did a 3v swap in an 01.

Looks like too much trouble to me.

Rebuild the 5.4

I rebuilt my 4.6 for right around $500 but it might cost you a little more depending on what's wrong with the motor and what all you have to replace.
