Default 5.4 question?

I recently purchased a 2004 Ford F-150 FX4. I have really enjoyed the truck but have just noticed that when I first start the truck up it has a pretty good cloud of smoke and then clears up? It has 92,000 miles on it and was taken good care of. I just recently filled up the tank and didnt notice it till now. Could it be I got some bad gas? Or is something else going on? It has been cooler then when I first got it. I am getting a little concerned. Please help or advise me.

Jason

Is there an unusual odor to the exhaust? There could be coolant leak b/c of a bad headgasket.

What color is the smoke? Blue, white, black. All mean different things.
Usually when there's blue smoke on start up and then dissipates upon warmup, that's an indication that valve guide seals are worn. And what's happening it oil is seeping down into the cylinders and being burned at start up.

Anyhow, please verify color.

It's the valve seals when they get old and dry oil drips down the valve when your engine is off, and when you start the engine it smokes as the oil burns off...
