2008 Transmission swap?
Hi everyone,
I have an 08 F150 v6 4.2L with a 5spd gear box.
Due to lower back and left leg issues I am considering swapping in an automatic transmission.
I am thinking of trying to locate a same year wreck to strip down for parts for driveline, computer related items & interior hardware.
i've seen what looks like a center shift setup. is this typical or s there a column **** as well?
Has anyone tackled something like this before here?

Renaissance Honky
It's a hell of a lot less work/trouble/money to sell what you have and buy what you want.

there are both column and center shift set ups... like Eric said, this aint going to be cheap or easy. unless you have some serious sentimental attachment to your truck, selling it and combining what you would spend on what this will cost will get you a truck that has an automatic from the factory.

Thanks, I understand the comments.
Trucks in Canada go for tons of money compared to the US counterparts.
Even the used trucks are big bucks here.
Our wonderful tax man is always waiting to grab what they can with the used trucks too.
I'm just doing some investigating here dreaming of the day.
I'm thinking that this could be done for less than $3000 cdn provided I find the right donor truck.

just checked to confirm and the low range is $16,000 & up for trucks with 200,000 plus Km's 120,000+ miles
The low miler's are $25,000+ to insane asking prices
My truck is paid for, so that is a bonus.
It just rolled into 128,000km's just under 80,000 miles
If I go the swap route I'll post how it goes.
Thanks guys!
