Hello i have the same simmilar problem with my 07 lariat bought new in july 07 . I noticed a few people on here have similar problems my truck goes in tommorow to be fixed or they are gonna look at it .
List of what it is doing
shaking and banging only when i coast at low speed tap the brake and go again bout 2000 rpms or so not all the time but lately has gotten worse
any advice would be great thanks

07 5.4 vgt fail = new motor?
My 07 5.4 With 45k miles has problems.... Rough start, loss of power, and brakes feel like manual brakes... VACUME RIGHT?? Codes shown up before I brought it to dealer were P0012, P0022, P0018, P0300, P0345, P0020. Cam position sensor is what I thought at that point. Brought it to dealer they said VGT failed and they are going to replace the entire motor. They did not test brakes yet.
Any suggestions?

The Truck seems to run will while under load, and at normal speeds.

Well.. Thanks ya'll for scaring me into NOT buying a clean, 2007 Expedition 4x4 XLT, 122,000 miles, 5.4 for $6,000. Book on this puppy is close to $12k and it supposedly runs great but it's in Eastern Pennsylvania and I'm 65 miles east of Chicago. Not too keen on flying out there and finding out that it's a turd... Bummer.... it has the police package and was obviously driven by a detective with a few stripes.
Guess I'll just stick with my slightly ratty '97 F150 SCAB 4x4 with 4.6 and only 227,000 miles and still cookin along problem free.
I would have thought that Ford would have gotten it's act together and dropped the phased cam timing design they've been using (with what seems to be a s***load of problems) since 1999 for a better design.
GM is using variable cam timing with freakin PUSHRODS.... and NO problems....
The Japanese seem to be able to design and build problem free OHC VVT engines but I will NEVER park a Toyota in my driveway.... ick.
