Default Timing off one tooth?

Hello everyone. Maybe someone can help me. I have an issue. I just replaced the engine in my 2006 navigator. I found a ford reman short block, a factory head on bank 1 and a aftermarket head on bank 2 with new ford valves, updated roller followers and 2 ford new cams. everything is new ford except the one head, I couldn't find an original ford head on bank 2. All the timing components are ford except for the melling steel tensioners anda melling MV360 Oil pump. Engine sounds great, drives good power wise, but I do have pinging on Bank 1. On my way to inspection the CEL came on. So I went home, and put the scanner on it and I came up with lean code on bank 2. I found a small vacuum leak on the heater control vacuum line and and cleared the CEL. It hasn't come back but I did notice the bank 1 is running 7.5 to 9 degreed advanced. No CEL yet. I tried swapping the vvt solenoids and there was no change. under load I see both banks advance to 40 degrees. So I am thinking that I am possibly one tooth off. is there a way to check the timing without taking off the front cover? I know I can line up the balancer on TDC, but is there a mark on the cam? Could I use the cam sensor hole to verify TDC?
