Default Is it my phasers????

Ok the truck runs fine when the weather outside is cool but when the temperature gets up my truck rattles under load, the other day I was pulling my rzr and it got so bad it started missing the threw the misfire on cylinder 2 code, note that I just put 8 new motorcraft plugs in it, is it my phasers or my vct, on the vct note it does fine at idle just a slit miss. It's a 2004 f150 5.4 3v 157K oil change every 3K since I've owned the truck, oil type motorcraft 5w 30 and motorcraft filter, until the last oi change I used rotella 5w 30

well,
I have a 05 King and thought it was my phasers and etc.. Be mindful that the truck still runs but sounds like a diesel engine. Well when I get in their my chain was still tight on both sides and the tensioners were still working as they should. What i did find though was my guides had broken off in a few places and they were sitting in some not so good places within the engine. But the biggest issue was my passenger side camshaft. The caps were damn near burnt and when i took them off the #4 cap literally broke in half. So learn from my lesson and just get in there and see what you're working with before you go out and buy any parts. I thought i was getting ahead of the curve by buying parts first online thru Amazon (they were cheaper than the dealer brick/mortar stores) but now I'm stuck with them and having to more than like just buy a new engine.

Your phasers clack away from low oil pressure. Your outcome is no surprise there. In other words, don’t get attached to your new diesel engine. Low oil pressure wasn’t good back in the old days, it ain’t good now.

Its probably your chain tensioners gone bad, and the chains have beaten the chain guides to piece so that the chain is rattling against itself or the tensioner arm or front cover.
