Default Knocking in reverse with trailer

I have an 08 5.4 150k miles. Only had it since last November. I pull my race car on a trailer about every week. Since I've had it I've had this problem but the last couple weeks it seems worse. When i have my trailer on and I am backing up my truck starts knocking, shaking, and tries to die. Never dies tho. I can stop and everything is normal. It has the normal tick at idle but nothing irregular. Any ideas and why it knocks and shakes when I am backing up with the trailer? My driveway isn't that steep. My thought are cam phasers, but it stumps me why it only does it in reverse.

Have you replaced your spark plugs lately? My 2010 5.4 was doing that when I would backup my camping trailer. The dealer told me I had 2 plugs misfiring. I replaced all my plugs myself and its been good ever since.

No I haven't. Been wanting to do it because I know it needs it. Just haven't had time. I might try to get it done soon. Thanks for the reply

Mine only did it once. After a long highway trip and with very thin oil. Not sure why it only did it in reverse in mine, but since I've been running thicker oil, it's silent and never happened again.

The timing chain tensioners were blown out. I bought everything to do the cam phaser lockout and luckily figured I'd replace the timing chain guides and tensioner while I was in there.
