Default coilpack and preformance chips

I recently purchased an F150 Super crew 4x4 with the 5.4L, with 200,000 mi on it. It runs excellent! The previous owner said that approximately every 40000 mi he had to replace the #8 coil pack on this Triton engine. Is there a cure to this or do I just need to plan on it happening? Also, I have been looking into performance chips ( PCD and GForce), as I'm looking mainly for better gas mileage. The two listed were basic chips and easy install, were listed at $69. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Chips are for Salsa. Any decent tuner is gonna run you $300 on up new.

Thanks. I saw other tuners for 300 and up, but hoped the $69 would work, but also assumed it was probably too cheap to do the job. You said that it was for salsa, what is that?
