Would a 99 5.4 from a van differ much from the f150 5.4 ? i'm looking for a good donor engine for a 97 f150 4x4 and read 99 was one of the best years close to mine ! thanks in advance !

A 99 F150 5.4L yes, but not the E-series, F250 or F350 's with 5fours. The 99 5.4L in the 1/2 tons were unique. They had PI heads and the ONLY metal 5.4L PI intake. All the other Truck/Van models had Metal intakes, but they were all non PI. The F250/350's weren't upgraded to PI until late 2000 early 2001. The vans took longer than that lol.

So if you want a 99-01 PI 5.4L, the doner would have to be an F150.

The van engine will work, as long as you use your existing truck intake on top of it. It's just like your old engine tho.
