Unhappy 5.4 3v timing issue or issues

Ok so new to the forum and hoping that i can get some much needed advice lol.
Ok so I purchased a really clean 04 F150 with a 5.4 3v and I was already preparing to do the phasers, oil pump, timing chains etc etc, So I went out Monday morning to go to work and it started to idle rough and threw a code for cam position sensor changed them both hoping that was all it was but no same code came up so I pulled the valve covers off scoped the timing area and both chain guides broken in many pieces chains were loose as hell so pulled it apart and made a stupid rookie mistake not paying attention I pulled chains and everything else off and forgot to line up crank marks and phaser marks where they needed to be along with the cam loabs to remove the followers.

What is the best way to do this at this point so I can set positions on phasers where they need to be along with the crank markings. I do not want to bend valves or cause and other damage.

Please help thanks in advance.

I really hope you have the manual.

Otherwise, you're going to need the tools to get the followers out, everything needs to move freely.

crank timing dot at 6 o'clock. The single dark link lines up with this.
the double dark-links on the timing chains line up with the timing marks on the phasers. If you're using the aftermarket phasers, remember the driver's side is the Left side. Otherwise, make the same mistake on the passenger's side, too.

good luck.

Really, if you put the timing perfectly at "180 out" then it will also be perfectly lined up after one crankshaft rotation.

I would start with maybe checking the camshaft sensor wiring and ensuring the connectors are clipped on tight. Maybe even pull the cam sensors and make sure there's no debris on the front of the sensor.

What is the history of the vehicle? I know you said the chain guides were in tact, but is it possible the timing setup has been changed out before and the last guy didn't clean out the pickup screen? It's happened before.
So if the camshaft sensors check out I would maybe pull the oil pan next and ensure the screen is clean.

So I got the pan off. The pickup had some funk on the screen but it doesnt really seem like it would restrict the flow The picture looks worse than it really is. I have a new pickup and gasket.

Take out all of the followers under the camshafts. Turn your crank until the crank gear dot is facing straight down at the 6 o clock position. Then have the driver side phaser with the L facing up and the passenger side with the R facing up. Then line the single dark chain link on your timing chain up on the dot of the crank gear and the double dark chain links on the L with arrow on the drivers side phaser and the R with arrow on the passenger. As long as you have the dot on the crank gear facing straight down on the 6 o'clock position and line the timing chains up with the phasers according then you have nothing to worry about. You will have to buy the cam follower removal tool and install the followers after you put the timing chains on. Capeesh?
