so i got a 5.4 32v navi off a friend who said engine was bad and needs replacing dealer said no compresion on 5678 cyl codes 171 174 2197 i took off plenum and pass side valve cover and there is alot of play in the chain and white plastic peaces in there chain just slaps around could the chain have jumped and would that cause the compresion issue and of course it would run bad could this be the problem thats causing it all any help and or advice would be greatly appreciated sorry i cant spell worth a damn

 

Sounds like one of the chain tentiiners are broke. If I'm not mistaken ford used plastic ones for a year or two. There not hard to replace once you spend hrs and hrs getting to the d#%n things.
