Default 2008 f150

Hi all, I just bought a 2008 f150 5.4 triton with 90,000 miles on it. and of course new to this site. the check engine light is on I was told it was an o2 sensor, but of course you can not believe the dealer. so I hooked up OBD and it has code P0011 Camshaft position actuator A Bank 1 timing over-Advan. and P0021.Camshaft position actuator A Bank 2 timing over-Advan been doing some research and it talks about the VCT.the truck does not idle rough, does not stall has good oil pressure. and oil is full and just changed. not sure if I am getting bad fuel mileage as I do not know what type of fuel mileage it should get. checked the ohms it was around 12-13 for both on what I believe are the VCT solenoids located on both sides at the ends of the valve covers. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum.. You bought the truck with the CEL Lit ? or it lit up after you bought it... sounds like the dealer read the code for you but, did not want to fix it. why not take it back to the dealer and tell him to fix it.. obviously it is not an O2 sensor. You have a Cam shaft positioning sensor for each bank.

Welcome to the forum. I also agree I would 1) not buy a vehicle without first getting the CEL fixed unless its a REALLY good deal! 2) take it back to the dealer and tell them to fix it. Those codes would not usually be consistent with bad O2 sensors.

I have been working on cars and trucks my entire life and I know I can fix it. this is my first f150 and I do love it. Just need some help making sure I get the right parts.

Glad you got a good deal. If you dont want to take it back and suggest the dealer fix it then we can start diagnosing some of the common problems. First, does it make a tick, clack, or sound kind of like a diesel after it is warmed up? How do you know the oil pressure is good? It sounds like it heading towards a timing job which will cost you around $2k and many hours of your time or around $3-$3.5k if you have someone else do it.

Agree ^^^ and then it's not such a good deal on the truck. I would suggest returning to the dealer to have a chat...
