1999 F150 4x4 Auto w/overdrive 5.4L. 247,000 miles. According to my door sticker, my transmission is a "U." I assume this is a 4r70w??
My transmission started slipping and shuddering when I backed up. I added some Lucas Stop Slip and it worked fine for about 1000 miles, then I lost reverse completely (jerking violently at the end) and it started shuddering in Overdrive. Forward gears seem fine although neutral is now a "forward" gear. Craziness! Oil is brown and has burnt smell.

I've found a 1999 expedition with a 5.4L and
a 4r100/e4od.

Will this transmission swap with mine and bolt up? I am not wanting a major project other than a straight swap.

Everything should bolt right up, you'll probably have to use the tranny mount for the 4r100 it is a bigger bodied tranny
