Default big radiator swap

the radiator on my 93 e150 blew up the other day..i live in PR and it's always hot down here, and when ever i get home i have to back up my driveway to park it... at that point the temp gauge always spikes up from half way to about a 1/4 inch from the red..while i was searching for parts on rockauto, i was checking out the different radiators offered on the e150's-350's... i found that a 7.2 liter was offered on the e350 and it has a huge radiator in it.... i was wondering if anyone on this forum has tried replacing the regular size radiator for the one for the 7.2 liter.... on the pics from rock auto everything seems to be in the same spot, the difference i saw is where the regular size has big mounting brackets, the radiator from the 7.2 eliminates those huge brackets and has a small mounting bracket on the sides... i figure a bigger radiator will keep the needle from spiking unless there's another problem
