Just sprayed all the vacuum lines as suggested and no difference in RPM's. Anything else?

pull the line off the brake booster and put your thumb over the hose so it wont leak... let someone start it...and see if that helps....

Also did you spray along the intake gaskets... and all over the intake...

Throttle Position Sensor....when it is cold it will do this until the TPS warms up and then it will quit....I had a vehicle do this and that is how I finally fixed it. I was trouble shooting something else and when I changed this, it fixed my cold idle problem.....GL

Mine runs fine when it warms up also. I have replaced the Idle control sensor (ICS), sprayed all the vacuum lines & replaced the intake manifold gasket. Right now the weather above 50 degrees so it idles fine. When it's colder & starts acting up again I'll replace the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Thanks

Default Reving UP is down

OK! It's been 1 week since I replaced the throttle position sensor (TPS) & believe it or not it has resolved about 97 percent of my problem. In the last week the RPM's reved up only 250 & back two times without me hardly noticing it. It idles better & I can live with that ....... Besides ....... the weather is starting to climb into the 60's & up with NO issue.
Thanks for ALL your help guys.

Found this and thought I would share it.

I have a 2007 4.2 and have noticed the same thing with it reving high at startup (not always). Anyways I found this TSB.

I know yours is a 2004 but it sounds like the same thing to me.

Update: I see this has been brought up in a previous thread.
