Default random starting problem

I have never had any issues starting my F-150, so this kind of boggled my mind.. I drove around 50 miles last Saturday and then Sunday I hopped in and drove to Lowes to get some supplies for painting. I came back out to the truck and when I tried to start up the truck, it would crank but not turn over and start. Called my wife to come pick me up after checking the battery terminals and fuses... I went back later that night to try and start it up and it still wouldn't turn...
So I called road side assistance and got it towed to the Ford dealer near me and I told them what was happening. Then, before I leave the dealership the guy calls me and says there is nothing wrong with my pickup!
I went back and he drove it up... The dealer mechanic told me that I must have pumped the gas before cranking and the engine flooded causing it not to spark and turn over.. I am still not sure about it but I have been able to start it the last two times since then..Any ideas as to what had happened? or if there is some preventative maintenance I can do to stop a serious problem?
Thanks

You cant flood a modern injected engine by pumping the pedal before cranking. It doesn't work like that.

You said it would Crank but not turn over .

Did the starter spin the engine over at a fast pace or was it kinda slow?? Crank and Turn Over are the same too me. You said you checked the battery connection that is why I ask. If the starter was slow or dragging like the battery was weak you could have a bad Cell in the battery and that could be a intermittent problem.
