i got a 89 f150 xlt that i have had for a year i have just about replaced everything but now i think the tranny is going out of it, i know the old owner has put a ford reman short block in it and aswell a re built trans heres what i have done to it this far

truck $2500
rear adjust cable $10
ebrake cable left $24
ebrake cable right $25
stearing box + window motor $215
connecting tie rod $103
upper ball joint $24
left inner tierod $45
starter $170
exhaust manifold $180
ujoints $70
muffler $60
icm spark $50

where are you buying your parts!?!?!? holy wow. I work at a parts store and those prices are insane!!!! the starter for any motor in that truck whether its the 4.9 5.0 or 5.8 is under 100 dollars here! about 65 if im not mistaken. tie rods are around 15 bucks! u joints i have for 10 a piece for basics 15 for brute force. wow thats insane! keep the truck and find a new parts store!

Parts for these trucks are too cheap and their too easy to work on for them to ever be worth throwing away. If something breaks, fix it. (But I agree with Jacob, you're paying way too much for parts.)

You should be able to get a rebuilt or used tranny fairly cheap. In these days a paid off vehicle is money in the bank.

im up in canada thats why the prices on the parts seem high but even still they are high and i put high end parts on it due to it being a plow truck
