Default Wont start when warm

The 302 in question has the main bearings gone, and I am currently in the middle of a rebuild. Takes about 5 seconds to develop oil pressure when cold.

Drove out to go camping this this weekend, had to turn around and the truck died on me. It wouldn't start back up unless I had a jump. Replaced the alternator and battery about 3 months ago. When I did get it started, idle was at around 200-300 RPM, really rough, had to start it a few times. needed the RPM's at around 1500 to keep it from dying. Drove it home, after about 5 minutes of driving, returned to normal. Idled and ran fine.

Got home, let it sit for an hour and tried starting it again, started like it always does, runs a little rough, occasionally dies but when I start up a second time goes strong.

I searched and found a few hits...Ymenski you are a god when it comes to this stuff, but all of the guys you helped never answered back.

Ran the codes, had nothing. (did it properly this time)

Any ideas?

Oh no! don't say that. I've never been hit by lightining, but I'm told it's a lot worse than a 60K coil! No codes is a little hard to believe, but a pooched IAC doesn't set a code. Disconnect it and if it doesn't change behavior, that's a good indication.

took the negative off last night and drove it around for 20 minutes today to see if maybe that changed anything. still no codes, aside from a 225, which is the dynamic fault test thing...I am pressing the accelerator to the floor when doing the test...not sure if anything else should cause that?

Also, it was warm, and the damned thing started no problem. I'm at a loss, i want this old engine out of there and the new one in! Just waiting on the piston rings...have to go to class, will pull the IAC when I get back.

The D/R test has to be done at a specific moment & enough rev to register w/ the knock sensor. Hard to know when that is, w/o a code reader. You won't get a true error code reading, after clearing the KAM, for a few miles & multiple completed warm up cycles. still thinkin IAC.
