Default wont start.

ok i finally got my new truck and i got it home. its an 1988 ford f150(obviously) but it wont start. crankes but no start. i have already replaced the fuel pum relay connector and it still wont start. tomarrow it gets a new computer because my dad told me the fuel pumps were drounded in the comp. but fur the relay clicks but the fuel pumps dont turn on to pressurize the fuel system. i havent tried to run a power and ground wire to the pumps yet to see if they will turn on. if it gives me to many problems i will just convert it over to a mechanical fuel pump and be done with it. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
