Default Wiper problems on a 88

im having problems with my intermittent wipers. my wipers dont work at all in delay or low speed settings. they may work sometimes and may not in high speed. ive replaced the switch and motor both but the problem remains. ive been told to check the relay but im not sure where its located. any help or ideas would be great.

I had a similar problem with my wipers, and it turned out to be a ground wire that had broken loose on the back of the switch. I think I wound up putting it under a grounded nut near its original position. It must provide an extra field for the motor. If I remember right high speed worked ok, but low was intermittant or barely dragged across just like the old days when they'd get robbed of vacuum. ??

Hey thanks for the help. If I ever get a day off from work I'll take a look at it.

Well i just got done with the exact same problem on my 1989 4.9 and there is a little black box behind the switch beside the fuse pannel that runs inline with the harness. i was lucky enough i didnt have to replace it, i just had to re-solder some of the components on the pc board inside the box. There where two components that the solder had cracked and wasnt making a good connection. put it back together and worked fine, a broken ground on the switch will also do the same thing.
