A winch is indispensable when you actually need one. And they look really good too. The only problem I see is that in the early 90's they added crumple zones to the front of the frame and put a different mounting system - not like the picture above.
So a heavy duty hitch that you will actually use, you want to get an attachment of some kind behind those crumple zones so that you don't risk pulling the crumple out (stretching the frame).
The crumple zones are designed to fold up easy in an accident, but they will also unfold the other way (if you get what I mean) if you get yourself in deep enough and have a strong enough winch.

I wouldn't worry bout the crumple zones. I've almost stalled my 12,000 lb winch and my truck ain't any longer than she was when she was built. Check it out, bolted straight into the crumple crap:

That Warn Classic is one of the reasons I bought my 94 4x4 . The other reason is I saved it from the scrapper and paid the seller scrap value for it!



It was hurt but it feels much better now.......just need a winch!
