Default When to replace fuel injectors

Just as the subject line says is there a recommended mileage or age to replace your injectors?
Also what are considered a good brand? I can find them priced from like 30 - 90 bucks each.
Thanks
Darrell

you should NEVER have to replace the injectors...if you change the fuel filter as often as you should and run cleaner thru the system to keep them clean they will outlast the truck...

Thanks Dr Bowtie. I had figured the erosion from the fuel would enlarge the opening and decrease the size of the pintle to the point that the injectors couldn't be controlled accurately by the ECM any longer.

I'd do it if I suddenly found myself w/ more money than sense & some free time. Until then, I toss in a bottle of "Lucas Injection Cleaner" whenever my Idle doesn't seem as smooth as usual. Or about every 5 or 6 tanks. A can of "Seafoam" thru the air intake is fun & helps remove cumbustion
chamber build up .https://www.f150forum.com/f72/how-seafoam-eighth-gen-f150-1987-1991-a-31505/ After these two applications you'll probably forget all about replacing the injectors!

Post If you think never - think again

OK guys, trying to bring something other than cleaners and foam to the forefront - my 06 F-150 FX 4X4 33K miles, just lunched it's engine (5.7L) due to two (2) Fuel Injectors sticking open. (According to the dealer). They are replacing the engine block with a re-manufactured. OK. So - when I asked if they were replacing the injectors - they said no. (other than the two that failed.) So, I said with 20% of the injectors failing, that does not give you concern for the others? Nope. (Well, it does me).

By the way - I asked if I was getting new plugs (you know that issue of the two piece I'm sure). Nope. (So - I ordered new anyway - still same type though.) I did ask if I needed to order a new oil change and filter too, or did they plan on using the old there as well?

I do appreciate the effort the Dealer is making. But for a few bucks more, I'd replace the other 6 injectors. (and I will).

Didn't even notice that. Way to double fail on a first post.
