How wide is a stock 15 in wheel...i have a 95 eddiebauer with the 351. dunno if that makes a difference?

 

my 15 is 7.5" wide, but i think my wheels were limited. so my guess would be either 7", or 8"

 

i wanna get a lift n put sum 35's on it. i know there are tire packages that come with 35x12.50 and 15x8 in wheels. i just dont want any odd wear.

 

You want a 10" wheel with a 12.50 tire

 

^ +1 - about the widest you would want to go with 8" rims is 10-10.5. Not that a 12.5 can't physically be done - just end up with a doughnut-look, probably even for the taller 35" tires. Consider that your rim width would be only 2/3 of the treadwidth, not to mention the additional width of any sidewall bulge.

I have 12" rims with 33x12.50s on a Jeep CJ5. I think it looks great, but have to run the tire pressure down around 18psi to keep the treadwear close to even.

 

Ditto on the rim widths. The only reason some places offer the 12.50 on 8" rims is for the purpose of off road situations. Those guys like to drop the pressure way down so the the tires will wrap around the rocks and the narrow rim keeps the bead in place better. It isn't practical on a the road as the tires will really doughnut and the centers will wear out long before the rest of the tire.

 

I have the stock 15" rims. The door sticker says they are 15x7.5 inches.
I have 31x10.50R15 tires. That means the tire tread is 3" wider than the rim. I will attach a picture of my truck below, I do not think the tires look ballooned out.
