Default What transmission do I have?

I got a transmission with a 302 I bought and it looks like it will work in my 96' f-150. I pulled the serial number off the rear end of the transmission by the tail shaft and this is what it reads..

PKA DR1
017341 J30
E8SP AB

It doesn't have a kick down cable and it has two electric plug ends on drivers side of the transmission. And the Oil cooler lines are on passenger side closer to the front of the bell housing.

Do you know what this transmission might be out of?

probably. i think they stopped putting the E4OD in our trucks in '95 and replaced it with the 4R70W.

My 96 came with a E4OD so it's possible that's what's in your truck. The pans are different on the E4OD and the 4R70W so you should be able to tell if the trans you just got is the same as the one in your truck.

Yeah it'll bolt up, but if the transmission in his current truck is an E4OD then he's looking at different harness, PCM, and driveshaft as an E4OD is longer. Not out of the question that the crossmember could be different for all I know. Although the 4R70W is more common on the 302, some did come with the E4OD so you can't make a blanket statement that he'll be fine just because your truck came with something.
