Default What is this?

Does anyone know what this is supposed to be? It's on the passenger side by the battery in a '96 with the 300 I6. The top hoses or tubes have been cut so I have no clue where they were going and what this little box does. Thanks in advance!

charcoal canister for the fuel tank. It looks like the lines are hooked up and there are supposed to be 2 caps ontop of the canister where the 2 holes are. It lets the fuel vapors from the tank to be filtered out and burnt in the engine through the intake.
