Default What is it?

I have found some kind of sensor on the right side of engine at the rear between exhaust manifold and block. It has a single black wire. Does anyone have an idea as to what it is? It is not connected to anything and I do not have an part of the harness near by to connect to it.

Please help if you can.

What engine and by, "right" do you mean driver or passenger?

I mean passenger. It appears that maybe someone just found something to thread into exhaust manifold.

Oh well! Bigger problems. Threads are jacked in block for knock sensor. Not sure what to do now!

a knock sensor is not 100% required. my 93 has a motor out of an 89 crown Victoria and it had no hole for a knock sensor. I zip tied it tight to the wire harness so it wasn't wiggling around and it has given me no trouble at all. the cars didn't have the sensor where as the trucks did. I have had no check engine light and it's ran perfect since January and 22000 miles

It might not be a requirement unless they programmed PCM for it

Just thinking.

93 I appreciate the dialog. It's better than not. I might after hashing it out come to a conclusion. I've got to come up with something that is causing a miss at idle and for some strang reason in the last month or saw started giving me fits during the driving. Most notable at around 35 mph at about 1500 rpm's.

With 2 tanks I do not see it being a pump issue. Besides they are both fairly new. I know that does not mean much now a days.

I set the cruise at 35 and felt the chugging and watched the rpm's drop from 1500 to 1000.

I've read where people had issues and replace knock sensor and it cleared. IDK

I thought smog system. Mechanic friend doesn't think so.

Could it be electrical? Could alternator be trying to go out?

I'm grasping.

I've done to much and don't think this truck is ready for the graveyard yet!
