Default Vss sensor help

I Know there are other threads on this subject and ive read them all. My truck has all the symptoms of the vss going bad speedo quit, shifting hard, and the abs light is on. I replaced the vss and no change. I know the next step is to replace the wires. Ive ordered them twice and got the wrong part both times. My dad says you cant spice the wires because it will mess up the resistance and it wont read right. Is that right? Or does anyone know where i can find a replacement?

Yes, splicing them would cause resistance issues.

I bought a 93 that the lady that sold it said it was shifting funny and had no speedometer. So as soon as I got it home I put a vss I had kicking around and it didn't help. So I followed the wires and found them ripped in half! So I spliced them back together and it has been shifting great and speedometer has been working perfectly ever since!
