Default vacuum lines

I know this has been posted on here several times and I know the diagram is under the hood, but I must be slow or something cuz I still need help. My question is, where does the orange vacuum line go on a 1988 f-150 5.8? I see where it starts on the drivers side of the engine but its broken off midway down the other side. What is this line for, I've noticed poor performance from the truck, could this be the cause? Can I just cap it or is it necessary?

I have a red line that goes to the carbon absorption canister on my 87'302. nothing orange. Plugging it isn't your best move. It's times like this, I miss the removable engine cowling on my old 87 Econoline van.
