Default usb scan tool?

I have been thinking about picking up a scan tool, and had settled on the equus 3145.

but before I buy it, has anyone here seen a USB cable/software package that fits our trucks? I would really prefere that option, but I can only find a cable that fits the GM OBD-1 connector.

thanks.

I have the Equus 3145. I also purchased the extension cable: EPI3145. The extension cable is essential for 1 person operation IMO especially when doing the diagnostic routines. Best deals I found were on Amazon. The extension cable is a bit expensive for what it is and could be made DIY for a few $.

I can't think of any reason to have USB connection for computer on an OBDI vehicle. OBDI doesn't produce any usable data other than a few 2 digit codes.

yeah, there's no particular reason I need it, especially if I can't get any data beyond the codes.

I'll just order the equus scanner.

thanks

For our trucks the cheapest and most reliable scanner is a jumper wire, you just have to count the flashes on the CEL. Some scanners may not read the codes properly but I haven't heard of any problems with the Equus brand. My 94 and 95 use 3 digit codes as do most 92+ OBDI systems, while older ones use two digit codes.
