Up and Down Idle Problem
Hey Everyone,
We just purchased my son a 1987 F150 XLT 4x4, V8 With 120K on it. Actually just brought it home today. However we are having an issue
I hope one you guys can help with. The idle is fluxuating up and down when stopped. And when you turn off and crank back, it revs up real high and then just cuts off. ( I also forgot to say it's a manual trans.) In between changing gears the RPMs will stay high like the gas pedal is stuck, however it's not. Any help with this problem will be greatly appreciated, This is his first vehicle and he has always asked for an old style ford, so right now he is a little disappointed that he already is having problems.
Thanks in advance

I just posted a very similar question right before you posted this. Keep an eye on my thread, and I'll watch this one too. Mine doesn't cut off.
I cleaned my IACV because it would almost cut off (500 RPMs), now it does like yours and sticks like your resting your foot on the gas. My untrained guess would be the throttle position sensor, but let's wait until someone smarter than me can help. Good luck.
