Its all about the prep work for sure! Good call on saving your money and doing the extra work! Thats the way to do it. Try to get the stuff that says rubberized. If its not to much money.

Make sure you remove all rust and moisture especially in the rails and holes. If you miss some and cost over it the rust will grow under the coating unnoticed until something falls off. If budget permits id recommend por15. It converts rust into an epoxy like surface. Otherwise lots of work. Naval jelly and spray on rust converter in tight spots. It's like 6 bucks a can.

If you want to do it right and don't mind spending some extra $$ and A LOT of work then chassis saver is the way to go! I recommend using a spray gun to apply it! Here's what my truck looked like after 2 coats of spraying

I would get a gallon if you spray it. It's about 100 bucks, also make sure you get the right chassis saver, I think jet black is what i used. You'll also need their s8 reducer to use as a thinner so it's not globing up on the frame. That and a cheap spray gun to use and just scrap after u use it because it'll be trashed by the time your done!

use some fluid film it saved my truck and the cool thing is it just washes off after the winter then you can undercoat it.

do you need to remove all the rust before undercoating? i want to get it undercoated at a dealer but its going to cost me 400 bucks!

ill do it my self if i don't need to remove the rust lol
