Default u joint

It is 4.9 2wd long bed standard cab. M5OD. I want to replace the u joints at the both ends of the drive shaft. I have acdelco u joint (45u0115). This is called super strength, although now I wish I just got a regular duty. The current joints seem to be regular duty.

The new ones I bought have 3 clips that resemble closed c and 1 clip that is open. Why one open clip? I don't mean the inside clips that are single strand c. Is this clip supposed to go first or last? Or any specific location?

This joint also comes with flat zerk that needs a needle grease fitting? It looks like the grease will just leak out the sides. Any needle fitting you can recommend?
Thank you in advance.

The clips are the same across the board. The clips get packaged for all joints and the open clip is for the cap with the grease fitting in it. Having a nongreasable u-joint, it won't matter where you put the clip. I personally am not a fan of the non-greasable joint or the "super-strength" for that matter. I've sold hundreds of Precision joints over the years and haven't had any come back broken that were properly maintained.

The grease needles are pretty much standard. Any napa jobber ought to have one.

Just standard u-joints would probably outlast the truck. Most parts can be returned if it's not what you want.
