Default TTB noise when in 4x4

I did some searching but couldn't quite find an answer.

Here is my issue: I took my truck hunting this weekend. When I got there, I locked the hubs and put it in 4wd. I left camp to go driving around and everything was fine while driving on flat ground. As soon as my left front suspension would articulate, I would hear the most awful grinding noise. It would only happen while the tire was moving up or down. If the ground was flat, no noise. It only makes the sound with the hubs locked. It also makes the sound if the hubs are locked and it is in 2wd, but no noise when in 2wd with hubs free.

Has anyone had this issue or have an idea of what the noise could be?

Thanks.

CV Joint in the axle shaft, they don't turn when the hubs are unlocked and do when they are locked, so almost has to be a bad CV joint.
