Default True Value Of A Classic Ford Pickup

Going to sell a 1994 Ford F-150 XL 2dr Regular Cab Short Bed Truck with a 4.9L 6cyl engine. The truck has around 100k miles. It's the metallic green color that Ford used that year. It is in very good condition, maybe even excellent condition. No dents. Color is like it was many years ago. Runs great. Everything is intact. An offer of $1800 was made but there are similar trucks selling online for substantially more. Why? Anyway, would like to hear some opinions about a proper selling price.

The ONLY "true value" of anything is what the seller & buyer agree on. Period. If you give it away, its true value is $0. If you can get $4M, then its true value is $4M. Any guess you get from someone who is NOT physically there inspecting it & making an offer is irrelevant & useless. Even if you posted 100 pics, we couldn't tell you its TRUE value - we only MIGHT be able to guess a little more-accurately (than with ZERO pics, like now). But they'd still be GUESSES since there are MANY factors not gleanable from pics, like how it runs, how it rides, how it smells, how it sounds... Location also matters, and we don't know yours or the truck's.

The proper selling price is WHATEVER it's worth to you. If you'd rather have the truck than $1800, then that's lower than its selling price. If you'd rather have the truck than $5K, that's also too low. But that's just ANOTHER thing we can't guess - only you know. So put a price on it, and see what happens. If it doesn't sell, and you want to get rid of it, LOWER the price until it sells.

It took me ~3 years to sell this, but I got >3x what most of my friends told me it was worth.

Default That Is What The Truck Looks Like

The original post was edited to include what the truck looks like. It'sa bit dirty. That is dirt on the hood and elsewhere. Nothing wrong with the paint job. The inside is very dusty. But the truck is all 100% original everything. Never been modified or anything. Just trying to get a ballpark figure on a selling price. The truck has resided and still resides in Southern New Mexico. The climate is very dry and very hot. The weather year round is perfect for preserving automobiles. No rust. No salt damage. Everything works just fine. Prices on used vehicles are skyrocketing so now it's hard to figure proper value for a very durable old Ford F-150 pickup truck. Anyone interested would be more than welcomed to inquire. Thanks for any advice.

Then its value is VERY LOW because a LOT of parts should have been changed by now: tires, belts, wipers, fluids, bulbs, battery... If the buyer has to factor all that in, the truck is probably worthless.

But one pic doesn't change anything - you still have to decide what it's worth TO YOU before you can consider ANY offer (even if someone offered $10K).

Yes, of course, the usual parts that need replacing have been replaced. For example, tires, belts, bulbs, break shoes, break pads, etc.

The truck is not worthless. There is zero dishonesty in the description given thus far. It runs great. It revs like it always has. It doesn't sound like junk rolling down the street.

Looking for input on placing a ballpark price on the truck strictly from a financial perspective. Nothing more. Nothing less.

And sorry to anyone in the forum offended as if these posts sounf like a salesman making a sales pitch. That is not the case. The reason for these posts is to inquire about the pure financial value of the aforementioned vehicle going on the market soon. Seems no better place to ask than a Ford F-150 forum.

Anyone's advice is greatly appreciated and welcomed.

the truck is worth what a willing and able buyer will pay. Nothing more and nothing less.

That places the truck value between $450 and $25K. Books will likely place a value in that range as well.

good luck finding a buyer.

x2. find a number you are comfortable with and start there, probably wouldnt hurt to add "or best reasonable offer" after your price. IMO i would start around 5 grand and go from there, the truck is dirty and the paint looks faded, that believe it or not can/will have a big effect on sale traffic

In the pricing I typically see in the area of the southeast I live in, a truck like would run something like $3k ~ $4k. At least that’s what the asking price is … not sure what they actually sell for.
Hope that helps ya

Thanks for the advice. Yes, it's dirty and dusty both inside and out right now. Will clean it up and do a photoshoot. Maybe get some new tires. Currently looking for online places to list it. Looking at social media as well. Was asking lots of questions on value because of all the varied prices out there. Guess everyone wants what they want to varying degrees. It's very subjective. Thank you all for advice and continued advice. Thank you all very much.

Funny this question shows up. Just yesterday, I received my annual state "tax" levy on my '94 F150 XLT, 4x4, Std Cab, Auto & Air, 156k. Fair condition. It's nothing to write home about. Although, I did have two young men drool over it while I was at the county dump unloading junk.

The state of Kentucky values my prize at $800.00. I paid $2200.00 for it several years ago and have put about $4000.00 in it over that time. Including a recent $1200.00 engine pull to replace all the freeze plugs.

Value and worth. I value my truck very much at $10000.00. But it's worth is $800.00.
