Troubleshooting poor mpg's
So my truck is a 95 with 4.9l and 5 speed, shorthbox regular cab. I bought it last fall and out new ball joints and basically rebuilt the front end. I also put a new fuel pump in it this winter. I have also tuned it up with new autolube plugs, wires etc. It has an new air after too. Mileage is,still only at about 13mpg which I think is terrible for this truck. I have had several of these trucks over the years with 4 speeds and have always gotten at least 15-16. The check engine light does come on once it hits normal operating temperature.

Mine gets 11-13 consistently, but mine weighs about a ton more than yours, and I only drive like I stole it. So I'd expect yours to get slightly higher MPGs.
But you haven't told us much about the truck, its history, or how you use it. Click these & read the captions:

I don't know a lot of history on it. It has about 160,000 on it and uses no oil. I drive about 10 miles each way to work and the occasional trip to town which is 25 miles away. I just think that it should get much better mpg's for what it is. I have a big block chevy that gets as good pulling a 20ft travel trailer. Perhaps removing the cat would help?
