Transmission Whine when clutch released

1 Attachment(s)
I have a 94 F150 with the 4.9L and M50D transmission (manual 5 speed or 4 speed w/ OD) So as the title says my transmission is whining when I release the clutch and only when the clutch isn't released. Does this hone in on exactly what the problem is? The transmission works fine and shifts through each and every gear without a problem but my truck is solid otherwise and I don't like it whining and sounding like a hunk of ****... the noise is aggravated me to the verge of buying a rebuild kit and ripping this thing apart but I figured I'd get some input from my trusty ford guys before I dive into a rebuild.

Lol thanks... see how I strategically only went deep enough that the rear end and tranny weren't under water lol

I wonder if the m5od has a throw out Bering if it does my money would be on that. Or possibly a pilot Bering.

I'm not understanding, do you get the whine when the clutch pedal is pushed down OR do you get the whine when the clutch pedal is up as in the normal driving position?

I'd be thinking that way too. Or something rubbing in the clutch area somewhere. The post is confusing though - does it whine when you have the clutch pedal pushed down or when you take your foot off the pedal ?

I'm sorry for the confusion guys, the whine is when the clutch is in normal driving position, not pushed in...

The damn autocorrect made my "is" to an "isn't" up there above

Most likely it's the input shaft bearing IN the transmission. I assume you get the whine just sitting still with the transmission in neutral correct?

When the clutch pedal is pushed down the input shaft in the transmission stops. When the clutch pedal is pushed down the throwout bearing and the pilot bearing spin, so if it's quiet then those bearings are not causing the noise.

I hope this sheds a little light on your problem.
