Default Transmission question

I have a 1991 ford f150 with the 5.0 2wd. It is a 5 speed. I no longer have a ecu since it’s carbureted now and was wondering what transmission I could put in it without too much trouble?

What are you looking to do? Put in an Automatic or keep it Manual? If it's an automatic, I think a C6 (3 speed) or an AOD (4 speed) don't need a computer.

Thanks. I didn’t see I left out the automatic transmission in my post.

The AOD was not the best transmission Ford ever built. I would do a little research on them before I swapped one in your truck.

There really isn't a great option that does not require computer control. Have you considered a 4R70W with a standalone controller?

Right, run a 4 speed automatic with a stand alone controller
