Default transfer case fluid

88 4x4 anyone know what kind of fluid this thing takes? Also what should I make sure is in good order before using 4x4 for the first time?

Manual locking hubs
Bw 1356 tcase

Does the front use the same fluid as the rear?

80/90 gear oil . Yes the front is the same as rear end .

Your Transfer Case uses Mercon/Dexron III ATF fluid.
