Default Trans fluid changed!

Changed the tranny fluid today! Thanks for everyone's help. Drained the TC, dropped the pan, blew out the cooler return lines. Put it all back together and wah laa. Done!

So my questions are...did I fill it up enough? I have put a total of 15 quarts in. But I can't tell on the dipstick if it's full or. Not, the whole stick is covered in fluid...so I am thinking it is full.

However in reverse it usually goes, but sometimes it almost dies or starts running rough and I can hear an audible dinging noise.

Also switching from park to reverse or park to drive you can also hear and audible noise when it switches into gear.

Going down the road she is shifting real smooth and runs well. Idles fine to.

Any thoughts?

I attached some pictures I took. The gasket is what was on the truck...I could have probably re-used it as it was a pretty thick piece of rubber, but I went ahead and installed the felpro I had already bought.

My 1996 XLT 5.0 4x4 with the 4R70W and 33,000 original miles is next. What brand of transmission fluid did you use ?

looks good man- I did the same thing this past July and was a first-timer just like you. What made you want to change the fluid? How long have you had the truck? Congrats on doing the job!

I checked the fluid and it was black! That's what made me want to change it. It shifted into second real hard sometimes, especially if you were on the gas.

I've had the truck since august but haven't really driven it a lot due to work and life.

Hoping it appreciates all the work in putting into her. However reverse seems to be giving me some problems :-/. A buddy told me to put skunk oil in the trans, it's a must! Just got to get some.

Thanks!!
