Post tranny problems

i own a 93 f-150 with a 5.0 an 4x4 with the e40d. i recently replaced the tranny with one out of a 94 f-250. well i put it in. i think it still had some fluid in it when i put it in, so i started it up ran it through the gears. nothing, doesnt engage in any gears. so after adding i think 11 litres of fluid into it. it engages real hard into reverse, feels like its just pushing it as hard as it can into reverse. and drive it feels like its baredly putting it into drive. as well when you put it inn drive you have to give it gas to about 1500-2000 rpms before it starts driving. an in reverse it rolls like it should when you let off the brake. WHATS WRONG??

Well if you have to give it lots of gas to get going, the torque converter might be low of fluid, did you make sure that was full? As for the other issues, I guess I would just look over the linkages again, make everything is tight.

so my dad took at look at it today. he found out that when i put it into drive, its actually starting in 3rd gear which makes sense why you have to give it so much gas to get it to go anywhere. he thinks theres a computer problem. what could be the issue guys?

Just had a similar problem, mine (93 w/eod) was starting out in 3 gear. Turns out was a short in the gear shifter.
